A Few Quick Steps To Setup iGS

iGS is an improvement of XGS. Hence the name iGS means "improved XGS".
Yes, this version is still freeware!

1) Download the appropriate application.

http://www.openprojects.rarcoa.com/~justmike/XGS-Mac/iGS053-PPC.sit.hqx

2) Read the documentation, feature list, revision history, or FAQ.
http://www.openprojects.rarcoa.com/~justmike/XGS-Mac/Readme.zip

3) Extract your own IIGS ROM file, or download a ROM01 file from:
ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/emulators/rom_images/xgs.rom
Rename it to "xgs01.rom".
If you have a ROM03 image, name it "xgs03.rom" and place it in the
application directory.

4) Download a 2mg file:
http://www.inwards.com/xgs/archives.html
Uncompress a disk image of your choice.
Drop the image into an appropriate drive while iGS is running.

Reboot iGS using the Command-Control-Home keys and it should boot if you
dropped the disk in the (s5d1) 3.5" drive.
If you rebooted and the emulator is displaying a "]" prompt, type:
PR #5
to boot the disk image in s5d1.
If you dropped the disk in the SMPT0 drive, you rebooted and the emulator
is displaying a "]" prompt, type:
PR #7
to boot the disk image in SMPT0.
If you uncompressed a .nib or .dsk (5.25" disk image) you must type:
PR #6
to boot the disk image in s6d1.
