IIGS ROM Extraction Procedures If you don't have a real IIGS to get the ROMs from then you're on your own. Apple owns the copyrights on the ROMs, so I can't legally give you a copy (nor can anyone else). As a result you're probably not going to find them on an FTP site anywhere. IIGS ROM01 Image If you own a Apple IIGS ROM01, you may find a copy of the Apple IIGS ROM01 available at: ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/emulators/rom_images/ Rename the file "xgs.rom" to "xgs01.rom" and drop it in your XGS-Mac application folder. IIGS ROM Extraction 1) Read the topic "IIGS ROM Extraction Through ProDOS BASIC" file for the specifics. 2) Obtain a boot disk that enters BASIC System. 3) Insert a floppy in your GS or Mac. Format it as a ProDOS disk and copy the necessary files to boot into BASIC.SYSTEM (or use an already formatted ProDOS disk.) 4) Insert the floppy in your Mac. 5) Copy the "rom01dump.exec" or "rom03dump.exec" files onto the floppy (MacOS recognizes ProDOS disks!). 6) Eject the floppy from the Mac and insert it in your IIGS. 7) Boot the floppy into Basic System. Now, execute the "rom01dump.exec" or "rom03dump.exec" files at the BASIC interpreter with the command EXEC rom0xdump.exec where x is the version of your IIGS's ROM. 5) Insert the floppy back to your Mac. The XGS01.ROM or XGS03.ROM file should now exist on this disk. 6) Copy the image to the XGS directory. You can now launch XGS successfully. IIGS ROM Extraction Through ProDOS BASIC You will need a ROM image file to make XGS run. You can get the ROMs from a IIGS by saving them out in 32 KB chunks in AppleSoft BASIC. Boot a ProDOS 8 disk and get into BASIC, then do the following: **** For a ROM 01 machine: **** CALL -151 00/800
