What is it?
Based on XGS: An Apple IIgs emulator originally written for
X11 which has now been ported to MacOS.

System requirements

A higher end 68k Macintosh computer (68020 or better; FPU
prefered) or PowerPC based Macintosh
-
Any Macintosh keyboard. (An Extended Keyboard is prefered,
so you can use the FKeys.)

Memory: 6MB minimum for the app + allocated GS RAM space
-
Hard disk space: 1MB minimum; 20MB (depending on your configuration)

The Apple IIGS ROM. (Version 01 or 03)
To legitimately run this emulator, you must own an Apple
IIGS so that you can extract the ROM (XGS supports both ROM versions.)
See the file "Setup Procedures" for the ROM Extraction
Procedure.
Do not ask me to send the IIGS ROM to you. It is copyrighted.

A System Disk or some other disk to boot the GS.
Do not ask me to send a boot disk to you.

may be corrupt, by filling

Download
Apple's Appearance Extension and install it (Necessary before System
8.0).

Previous version: Download XGS-Mac 0.50r3 PPC (SIT)

Download
Apple's DrawSprocket and install it (necessary before System 9.0) in
any of these three places then reboot: your system folder, the xgs application
directory, or the system's extension folder.

A disk image of the "Nucleus" demo in DiskCopy format

Load this image into smartport drive 0 (smpt0). When the GS prompt appears,
enter "PR#7" and hit return to launch Nucleus. Or, load into s5d1 and with
no disk image in smpt0. When the GS prompt appears, enter "PR#5" and hit
return to launch Nucleus.

0.53: There appears to be an issue with Process Layers/Appearance
Manager under OS 8.5.1.
Resolution: Upgrade to OS 8.6 or better.

0.53: Sound is choppy. I just started work on this.
-
0.50r3: Sometimes the GDevice is incorrect, and switching
from 256 to thousands of colors will crash XGS-Mac. Workaround: change
the screen depth to 256 colors before activating Full Screen.
